There are several reasons to verify your identity:
You want to show that your user profile is actually you.
You want to link your user profile to the SOGC profile on the StiftungSchweiz platform.
How to Start the Person Verification Process
This is how you start the person verification:
Click on «Profile» in the dashboard. If you are not yet verified, you will see a gray «not verified» box next to your name. Click on it to start the verification process.
You can also start the verification process on your account page. kannst du den Verifizierungs-Prozess ebenfalls starten: Scrolle runter bis zu «Kontoüberprüfung». If you have not yet confirmed your identity, you will see a red «confirm identity» button here. Click on it to start the process.
As soon as you start the person verification, a pop-up from Veriff will appear:
Verification Process
Tip:
Have a valid document ready, such as a passport, identity card, residence permit or driver's license. Make sure the document is not expired or damaged. You need the original document; a picture of it (e.g. as a screenshot) is not sufficient and will be classified as an attempt at fraud by the verification software.
Use a smartphone. You need a smartphone to continue with the person verification.
Now you can either scan the QR code on the pop-up with your smartphone or have the link sent to you by text message.
The verification software will then guide you through the process step by step:
First, you take a photo of the photo page of your document.
Then you can turn your document over and take a photo of the other side.
Next, take a photo of yourself.
If everything has worked up to this point, your verification data will be transmitted to the software and your identity will be checked automatically.
If the Veriff verification software has checked all your details and finds no problems, your identity will be successfully verified within seconds. Simply reload the page and you will see this message if everything went well:
And in your profile you will find the green verification badge next to your name:
Verification Failed
If you have not been verified several minutes after submitting the personal verification, the software has probably detected a problem with your details.
If there are major problems, your verification request will be rejected immediately. In this case, you will see the following message: «We're sorry, but we were unable to verify your account at this time. Please check the details and try again.»
Possible reasons for a direct rejection of your verification request:
You did not take a photo of your original ID document, but a photo of a photo of the document.
Your document has expired.
Your document is damaged or illegible.
The photo of yourself does not match the photo on your ID document.
Make sure that you rectify all of these points. If the verification is still rejected immediately, you can contact our support team and we will check your personal verification manually.
If your personal verification has not been confirmed after several minutes, but has not been rejected immediately, you will see the following status: «Your details have been submitted for verification. Please wait for the evaluation.». This means that your identity could not be automatically confirmed by the software due to a discrepancy between your user name and the name on your ID document. Your identity will now be checked manually by the StiftungSchweiz team. This manual verification process can take up to 1 week. If you would like to be verified more quickly, you can contact our support team or correct your details.
Tip: Automatic verification via the software only works if your user name and the name on your ID document match 100%. This means that all second names and surnames must be listed.
If you change your name on your profile so that it matches your ID document, you can apply for personal verification again. It should now work automatically. Please note that you cannot simply change your user name again afterwards, otherwise you will lose your verification status.
If you do not want to change your user name, you can wait until your identity has been manually confirmed by the StiftungSchweiz team.
